So, it turns out that the default setting on blogger.com is relatively restrictive, and does not allow anonymous comments.
I've changed that now, with my apologies.
It still requires a word verification ("Type the word in this box") to try to cut down on auto-spam comments, but if you tried to comment before and were shut out, I encourage another go.
